Spanish Mission Team [www.bju.edu/about/missions/teams/spanish]
The history of BJU's mission team to Spanish-speaking countries goes back to the early 1980s, when a missionary in Mexico requested that the University send a group of students to assist in his ministry. In response to the need, the Lord raised up Dr. Argyle Paddock, trumpet instructor in the School of Fine Arts, and his wife, a teacher at Bob Jones Academy. While the Paddocks focused their efforts on Mexico, over the course of twenty years they also led groups to Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Spain. Upon the Paddocks' retirement, Dr. Ken Casillas of the Bible faculty, along with his wife Soraya, became the Spanish Team leaders. Dr. Casillas traveled to Mexico with the 1989 team, and it was actually on that trip that he met his wife. |
