Building Expansion 2011-2012

Since I know, O my God, that You try the heart and delight in uprightness, I, in the integrity of my heart, have willingly offered all these things; so now with joy I have seen Your people, who are present here, make their offerings willingly to You.  ~ 1 Chronicles 29:17

Faith, mighty faith, the promise sees and looks to God alone;

Laughs at impossibilities and cries, "It shall be done!"
And cries, and cries, "It shall be done!" And cries, and cries, "It shall be done!"

Laughs at impossibilities and cries, "It shall be done!"

(Chorus by Charles Wesley; often sung by our former Pastor Jesse Boyd)

Compelling Reasons to Move Forward with the Building Project

The elders recently identified the following compelling reasons that cause us to have a firm conviction that it is the will of God for our church to move forward with the expansion of our current facilities.

  1. The need for the elimination of dual services

  2. The need for the provision of space

    •  For visitors
    • To allow families to sit together during worship
    • To encourage BJU student attendance
    • For additional SS classes, multiplying ministry opportunities
    • For additional space for our music ministry
  3. The need to increase our base of our ministry to be able to support additional missionaries

  4. The multiplication of providential circumstances related to our church site:

    • The Western Corridor
    • The Ideal Laundry property purchase
    • The closure of Drayton Ave.
    • The development of the Swamp Rabbit Trail
    • The construction of a beautiful new fire station adjacent to our auditorium
    • The potential gift of several acres of land on Hampton Ave Ext.
  5. The provision of a large portion of the projected cost in advance.

  6. The “window of opportunity” provided by unusually low construction costs

  7. The advice of our professional architect who anticipated a much higher construction cost

  8. The unanimous agreement of our pastors, elders and deacons
