Man of the Word (MOW) Cycle 2015
Posted: August 29, 2015
The purpose of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church Men's Ministries is to promote the exercise of both physical and spiritual gifts through outreaches primarily to missionaries and church planters and through service at Mount Calvary Baptist Church. The Man of the Word Program provides the additional dimension of promoting personal discipline and growth in each man's spiritual life through the reading and memorizing of Scripture in a systematic manner.
Our next Man-of-the-Word (MOW) cycle will begin on Saturday, August 29, at 7 a.m. with a half-hour of prayer, breakfast at 7:30, and then a meeting from 8:00-8:45.
The theme for this cycle is Family Worship - The Foundation of Discipleship. We will be reading two books: Family Worship by Joel Beeke ($4.50), and A Neglected Grace: Family Worship in the Home by Jason Helopoulos ($7.50). Each is available in our bookstore. The manual is available online. Printed copies ($2) will soon be available in the bookstore and will also be available as a pdf to those who want it electronically.
Prayer breakfasts for this cycle will be on October 3 and November 7. On September 18-19 we will have a Men / Boys' Outing at the WILDS.
Please take advantage of the privilege of having a prayer partner. You can choose your own (no problem to request the same one you had last time) or allow us to match you up with another man.
You may sign up by registering here.

We are looking forward to our upcoming men and boys' outing at the Wilds on Sept 18-19 (Fri-Sat). All men and young men 5 yrs old and up are welcome. This is a great time of fellowship, activity, and continuing our emphasis on family worship. Our speakers this year will be Jeff and Sam Hawkey.

You will need to bring your own bedding, towels, and toiletries in addition to your Bible and any other items (bug spray, sunscreen, etc.) you will need for the overnight stay. You will also need to arrange your own transportation.
You can sign up and pay on the church website or turn in a payment envelope (found on greeters' stations) to Jeff Foster or Dave Howell. Please sign up as soon as possible but no later than Tuesday, September 15. Payment is due on that date as well.
Pricing for the retreat is as follows:
- First Man (older than 18): $50
- First Son (18 or younger): $20
- Additional Sons (same criteria as first son): $10 each
