Man of the Word

Man of the Word

The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also (2 Timothy 2:2).

The purpose of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church Men's Ministries is to promote the exercise of both physical and spiritual gifts through outreaches primarily to missionaries and church planters and through service at Mount Calvary Baptist Church. The Man of the Word Program provides the additional dimension of promoting personal discipline and growth in each man's spiritual life through the reading and memorizing of Scripture in a systematic manner.

Our current Man-of-the-Word (MOW) cycle will begin on Saturday, September 4, at 7:00 a.m. with an hour of prayer for the men, then prayer at 7:30 for dads and teens / younger boys. Breakfast will be at 8:00, followed by a short meeting at 8:30. Future prayer breakfasts are scheduled for October 9 and November 13.

The theme for this cycle will be "Wielding Our Weapons: Knowing and Using the Bible in Our Daily Lives."  The manual will be available as a pdf or in the church bookstore ($1.50). Alongside the manual articles we will be reading Tim Berrey’s book, Winning the War to Walk Worthy: A Devotional Exposition of Ephesians 6:10-18.  This book will be available for purchase in the bookstore ($7), or is available on Kindle.

One other matter – we would encourage everyone to get a prayer partner. Please take the initiative to approach someone on your own – perhaps someone you do not know very well. However, if you would like assistance obtaining a prayer partner, we would be glad to help. Please contact Ken Still at

We look forward to another season of praying alongside and building up one another for the glory of God!
