Missions Philosophy

Philosophy of Missions

One of our greatest blessings at Mount Calvary is the privilege of participating with many other church ministries in obeying Jesus’ command to make disciples of all nations. God has enabled us to prepare, ordain, send, and support missionaries since our church’s earliest days. As of January 2020, our missionary family includes 54 missionary units (families and singles) serving in 26 countries on six continents. In addition, we have the privilege of partnering with support organizations like Gospel Fellowship Association, Bob Jones University, the WILDS Christian Camp, Camp Joy, Calvary Lighthouse Mission, Faith Ministries, Frontline Magazine, Harbour Light House, and Shepherds’ Bethel. In addition, our church supports many of the summer mission teams sent out from BJU and regularly sends out teams through our Men’s Ministries, College Ministries, and Youth Group.

Missions Committee

The missions committee is at the heart of our church’s ministry to our missionaries. It formulates our church’s philosophy of missions, oversees the deputation, furlough, and on-field needs of our missionary family, and makes recommendations to our church family through our elder board. Currently, the missions committee is chaired by Doug Becker and consists of Brian Collins, John Detwiler, Ed Freeman, and Pastor Minnick.

Missionary Retirement Policy

This policy addresses the issue of the financial support of missionaries by MCBC once they reach retirement age or status. It is not intended to apply to missionaries who leave the field for other reasons. It is adopted with the desire to be wise stewards of the funds that the Lord graciously supplies through our church to spread the Gospel throughout the world as well as the desire to help our missionaries transition into their retirement years.
